Chazal tell us that the Torah did not begin with the letter א as it connotes Arur, which means curse. Rather it began with Beraishis, which is a Bais for Beracha, blessing.

The depth here is that the letter Alef is one, this hints to singlehood and being alone by oneself, this is not the optimal situation. Bais is two, it connotes people coming together, There is no blessing greater than that.

This is why the Torah begins with the letter Bais. Also, the Kesubah, marriage document starts with this letter (B’ Siman B’Echad B’Shabbas…) to show that we want the blessing of two people coming together!

May they build a Bayis Ne’eman, starting with the letter Bais!
