Loading ...“Any girl that has nice eyes, does not need to be looked into any further, marry her!” This Gemara (Taanis 24a) is hard to understand. Why is this the one determining factor? And is it even true, we know that someone may have nice eyes, but yet have severe mental or physical issues?
There are two answers to what it is being said here:
The Ben Ish Chai explains that “eyes” refers to her “worldview”. If she has the correct perspective in life, she is a fitting spouse!
The Ateres Adar explains that “Eyin Yafeh” in the language of Chazal refers to generosity. Thus, it means that if she is a generous and giving person, she is a quality wife!
Both of these explanations apply to our dear Kallah…..
